Automotive (standard ) punch and flare tools are designed to punch the required hole size and follow with a 45-degree radius angle (leg length of ¼”) in metal thickness of .040” to .065” aluminum and mile steel.
The total clearance after the punch / flare is made will be 1/8” larger than the punch size. (e.g. 1” OD punch will enlarge to 1-1/8” OD after punch/flare.)
Punch to die clearance is 0.012”
