METAL WORK BASICS: Large Equipment
HAND TOOLS
A comprehensive overview to the "Hand Tools" of the Trade!
This film covers: hammers, dollies, shot bags, measuring tools, glass pliers, aviation snips, tinner's snips and hand seamers.
Other essential hand tools like hole saws and Greenlee knock-out punches are demonstrated. How to use Pro-flanges to make lightening holes.
LARGE EQUIPMENT
Instruction and demonstration on essential sheet metal equipment. It's a classic Fournier title!
Ron explains and demonstrates the benefits of various sheetmetal bending machines, slip roll and beading tools.
Many tricks of the trade are shown when working with a drill press, band saw and other power tools.
Also includes instruction on how to use a radius die and how to roll a cylinder & cone. Ron teaches by example and shows how to use the combination rotary machine, box and pan brakes and disc sander.

Featuring Ron Fournier & Ron Covell
Two of the best-known names in metalshaping have teamed up to teach you the ins and outs of the hammerforming process. The two Ron's bring over 70 years of combined experience to their viewers, and you will see how their individual styles of working with metal compliment each other.
Hammerforms are very easy to make, and they enable you to create parts that have the look and accuracy of die-stamped parts. Even beginning metalworkers can use hammerforms to quickly and easily make parts of which they can be proud.
Ten different hammerforming operations are demonstrated, from simple tank tops to a beautiful rolled edge detail on a complicated pontoon Bugatti fender.
The film includes instruction and demonstrations on the following topics:
Tank Top
Grille Bar
Annealing
Chipmunk Tombstone
Bowl Shapes
Flying Wire Fairing
Wing Rib
Door Post
Naca Duct
Bicycle Seat Post
Bugatti Fender
Featuring striking close-up shots that bring you close to the action, and clear descriptions of every aspect of the hammerforming process.

These metal formers are great for making smooth radius bends in sheet metal without cutting, heating or hammering the material. Reproduce just about anything with a curved edge. Mount on a workbench, in a vise or on a stand.
Use the shrinker to contract metal and to make inside curves. Use the stretcher to expand the metal for outside curves.
Cast iron body with hardened tool steel jaws for exceptional durability and long life. Each 12-lb. unit comes completely assembled and ready to use.

The first step in many large metalshaping projects is building a buck. A buck is a pattern, or form, that captures all of the key dimensions, contours, and details of an object in three-dimensional space. In some cases, details such as flanges and intricate contours are created by hammering metal directly against reinforced portions of the buck. The techniques used to make sophisticated bucks are not widely known, and many people have called us requesting a step-by-step description of the process, using tools the average builder may already have.
You'll learn a fast way to use sheet metal angles to model large, complicated shapes with surprising accuracy, and you will get insight into the way Ron works through the challenges presented by each element of the buck. His detailed, easy-to-follow commentary, coupled with striking close-up photography makes each step easy to follow, and you'll learn how to build sturdy, accurate bucks - the foundation for your large-scale metalshaping projects!
